All Anatomy.tv users should be able to navigate and interact with our content without any barriers. We are committed to making Anatomy.tv accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including users with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments. With this in mind, we’re excited to announce key updates: new keyboard shortcuts, tabbing navigation and screen reader capability for the Human Anatomy and Physiology resource. As we continue to fulfill our Accessibility Roadmap of updates, these features bring us even closer to full compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)!
Anatomy is a highly visual subject requiring identification of thousands of anatomical structures and understanding their spatial relationships, which can be challenging for individuals with visual impairments. Navigating learning resources for individuals who are unable to use a mouse, or prefer not to, can also be a huge barrier. The latest keyboard and tabbing updates will allow users to navigate through our content easily, and subtitle, transcript and screen reader updates ensure any user can understand our content in a format which suits their needs and preferences.

Primal for everyone
For all our accessibility improvements we have guidance from TetraLogical, who are experts in assisting this process. We have also worked with other key Anatomy.tv users and institutional clients for feedback and testing, to ensure our updates improve the experience of those with disabilities.
-
- Is this the only update? No! Accessibility is an ongoing journey for us and not just a quick fix. We are committed to continually improving our existing resources over the next few years and including accessibility features into new product releases.
- Why are only certain Anatomy.tv resources on the Roadmap? Due to the complexity of our content and the intensive work required to make updates, we must prioritize certain resources. We will incorporate relevant WCAGs into new releases as well.
- How have we chosen the resources to update first? Human Anatomy and Physiology was prioritized as it is the most used resource. Navigation, screen reader capabilities and additional features for the Anatomy.tv platform will be our next priority so all users can access all our products more easily.
